LET'S OPEN OUR WORLD
momondo was founded on the belief that everybody should be able to travel the world. Travel opens our minds and the door to a world where our differences are a source of inspiration and development, not intolerance and prejudice.
We would like as many as possible to join us on this journey which is why we are constantly launching new initiatives. Find out more about our journey and our latest initiatives.
How far would you go to bring the world closer together — to connect with people across borders, cultures and preconceptions?
In a world that seems more divided than ever, people from 61 different countries offer their bodies as a canvas to send a message to the world: that as long as we dare to connect, the world can’t fall apart.

Open World Projects
Do you have an innovative idea that encourages diversity and open-mindedness? The Open World Projects sponsorship program can help turn it into a reality.
What does it mean to be German today? See our first sponsored project WE: deutschland, a photo exhibition that through portraits, DNA and personal testaments of 51 Germans shows how we are united by diversity.
The Passport Initiative
A passport opens the door to a diverse and colourful world. But unfortunately a lot of people around the world don’t own one. As part of our Let’s Open Our World movement to encourage everybody to stay open and curious about the world, we’ve launched The Passport Initiative to help people get a passport. To begin with, we’re focusing on the world’s most expensive passport relative to income – the Turkish passport.
We are proud to support CISV
Children are our future. To help the next generation be more open-minded we support CISV International, a non-profit global organisation dedicated to educating and inspiring action for peace. One of the ways we support CISV is by funding a CISV Village in Brazil where children from all around the world come together, learn about their cultural differences and make friendships across borders.
Dear mom and dad
In the film Dear mom and dad we document what happens when 48 children from 12 different countries meet. We asked them to write to their parents how they see the world at the beginning and the end of the Village. Watch the magic that happens when different cultures meet and get to know each other – as people.
Do you stereotype unintentionally?
An activity that explains to children what stereotypes are and demonstrates how they are used – often completely unintentionally.
What happens when we label others?
This activity teaches children what happens when we label each other, how important it is to recognise when we do it – and how simple it is to change.
The DNA Journey
The DNA Journey, a short non-fiction film seen more than 500 million times, kick-started a conversation about the importance of breaking down boundaries. Find out more about how we are all more connected than we might realise, join the conversation and watch the film.
5 ways to open our world
Take them as inspiration, accept them as challenges or follow them as rules. Just remember that the world is open to those with an open mind.
78% believe we need to stand together to make the world a better place
The value of traveling cannot be underestimated — it can open our hearts and minds. Our latest global study clearly reveals this belief. The study also shows an increased perception of intolerance, but there is hope for the future: the majority still believe more things unite us than divide us. See what else people believe in the report.

momondo is an inspirational travel search site comparing billions of cheap flights, hotels and car hire deals, giving users complete price transparency across the market. We believe that everyone should be able to travel the world because we know that crossing borders and travelling makes us more open-minded and tolerant.
Our vision is of a world where our differences are a source of inspiration and development, not intolerance and prejudice. Our purpose is to give courage and encourage each one of us to stay curious and be open-minded so we can all enjoy a better, more diversified world.
1. Lower your guard
Travelling is about exposing yourself to something else, something different. Open your mind and put a leash on your judgement. It’s not our differences that divide us. It’s our inability to recognise, accept and get the best out of those differences. And remember: you are just as different to others as they are to you.
2. Do talk to strangers
– not only the staff at your hotel. A stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet. A quick question might turn into an inspirational conversation. Before you know it, you’ll be adding a local to your friend list.
3. Say yes!
Travelling is not just about destinations – it’s about what happens along the way. Yes is the magic word to new experiences. Yes, I’m lost. Yes, I’d love to dance. Yes, there’s room at this table. Yes, let’s go skinny dipping. Start saying yes today, not only when travelling but also in everyday life. See how much a little word can make a difference.
4. Stay curious
Have the courage to do something for the first time. Travelling is about crossing borders, including the ones you have put up for yourself. Curiosity is the compass that leads to an open-minded view of the world. Challenge yourself and fight the urge to rely on the routine. Do the opposite of the obvious and let your curiosity lead you to new experiences.
5. Care to share
Facing the world with an open mind makes you a source of inspiration to others. Let friends and family see the beauty and friendliness of the world through your eyes. Attitudes are contagious. Let yours spread across the world, and encourage others to be open-minded so we can all enjoy a better, more diversified world.
